5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Feb 10)

Ups...

5. A Spirited Battle

Madcap Moss

Need an example of good formulaic? The main event was that.

Everyone gelled nicely together during the four-way, and Madcap Moss does represent an interesting (albeit slightly surprising) choice to win then challenge GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Title. Sure, he'll be a sacrificial lamb, but that's fine if he's also allowed to look somewhat competitive against the champ.

Being honest, despite the shock nature of his win, Moss was really the only choice WWE had here. They've done the Rey Mysterio title challenge, and both Karrion Kross and Santos Escobar are out-and-out heels. The company cannot be lambasted for trying something a bit different then.

Fingers crossed this is a real show of faith in Madcap from Triple H, and not another false dawn for Baron Corbin's old mate. Moss can't survive too many of those. He has a killer look, bags of energy and clearly wants creative to meet him halfway.

He'll lose to GUNTHER, but can use the match as a springboard.
