5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 1)

3. The Women’s Tag

Carmella Sasha Banks
WWE

Last week, WWE had random teams formed by Bayley, Carmella, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair challenge Charlotte Flair and Asuka for the Women's Tag-Team Titles. It didn't sit right, because nobody had earned that shot. This week, things were a bit more relaxed and realistic.

Sasha teamed with Belair again, and there's a clear attempt to turn Bayley and Carmella into a full-time duo; that might be short-lived. This could be Bayley's way of trying to get the SmackDown Women's Title off Banks and onto someone she believes she can beat. If so, that's smart.

However it shakes out, one thing was obvious: These women have gelled.

Their tag match had a tremendous second half that's well-worth going out of your way to see. 'Mella vs. Banks also has one more pay-per-view showing in it before WWE move on to other things. If they play it right, then they can pivot back to Bayley rather easily.
