5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 23)

3. A Senseless Rematch

Last week, Carmella rightly earned praise for acting as a game stopgap challenger for Bianca Belair. Fast forward to last night and WWE booked a rematch between both women...for some reason. Honestly, this was just unnecessary, and Michael Cole's claim that Bianca "cheated" by using her hair last time was weak.

WEAK.

There was no real justification for booking this do-over. It was hellish awkward to watch Bianca (y'know, the reigning SmackDown Women's Champ and one of the top stars on the brand) dance in front of Rolling Loud to zero reaction, and the match was a struggle generally.

Belair is really treading water right now. WWE get some slack because of Bayley's sudden injury, but they've had a week or so to think about where Bianca goes next. Back-to-back title matches against 'Mella wasn't good enough. One was fine, but two? Forget it.
