5 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (25 Aug)

5. The Odd Trio

Your mileage may vary on Dan Lambert's verbiage.

The American Top Team chief is big on using terms like "woke" and rages against "safe spaces" in his promos. It's cheap, easy heat, and some people don't like that, but it's also calibrated to this specific audience, which is seen as closer to the left on the political spectrum. He's pushing the fanbase's buttons and, unlike the rap that sent Max Caster to sensitivity training, he isn't hurting anybody.

But why is he standing next to Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky?

Page, in particular, doesn't need a mouthpiece. The "very unlikely alliance" that Excalibur spoke of on commentary fits. Lambert, who runs an MMA team, is ranting about "real men" as the antithesis to AEW's "soft" product, but the Men of the Year are hardly Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. That's not their style - and this doesn't feel natural at all.
