5 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 7)

2. Dinosaur Pile-Up

Luchasaurus Bear Bronson
AEW

Big beefy boys bumping beef should be an easy recipe for success, as few things are more satisfying than the visceral thrill of massive men smashing into each other for 10 minutes. Unfortunately, though, Jurassic Express vs. Bear Control struggled to get going.

Paying tribute to the real Match of the Year, Godzilla vs. Kong, this felt like it was constantly building to big, popping spots awkwardly, and when those spots did come, they didn't satisfy. Bodies were piled on top of bodies and a big Superplex on Luchasaurus shook the whole ring, but the execution was often clunky and the layout all over the place.

A real shame, as this had huge, gif-worthy potential heading into the event. Godzilla kicked King Kong's ass here as Luchasaurus scored the pinfall, though this was perhaps the least compelling version of a match between these fun teams conceivable.
