5 Ups & 6 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jul 5)

1. Batting Practice

After this week's main event had concluded, there was an excellent segment where Tessa Blanchard stormed into a little party Sami Callihan and Jake Crist were having, swinging a baseball bat in the process. What followed was a great little back and forth between the two sides, with the end result being Tessa ducking out the way of Sami's bat to the head, and doing just that to him.

This was a fantastic way to close out the go-home episode, and also to add that extra level of intensity to this already heated intergender confrontation (as if things weren't already heated enough). What could have just been another simple Sami Callihan onslaught turned into Tessa Blanchard overcoming the odds, and gaining the upper hand over her opponent - a metaphor for her Impact career these last few months.

The pair's match at Slammiversary will undoubtedly be one of the best on the entire card, if not the best. When you put two incredible in-ring performers in the ring after building a mostly decent story out of it (minus the Glenn Gilbertti similarities Sami was showing at the start), a good match is sure to follow.
