3. Vega Hangs With Asuka

Let’s face it: No one was expecting Zelina Vega to topple Asuka and end her title reign Sunday night, but the former manager did better than expected in her Raw Women’s Championship match.

Vega looked overmatched early on, with Asuka taunting and toying with her, but she zeroed in on an injured arm and worked on it, even hitting a flurry that saw her go for Backstabber finisher unsuccessfully. She and Asuka exchanged rollups before the Empress cinched in the Asuka Lock for the submission victory.

While Zelina objectively was out of her league in storyline, she didn’t look out of her element in the match. Top that off with Vega staying full heel and kicking Asuka when they were bowing to each other, and you can see them establishing her as the heel “firecracker” on the roster.
