5 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (July 4)

2. Keep Gunther Away From This Sh*t

R-Truth tries his best with WWE's brand of comedy, but there's nothing redeemable about dressing the 24/7 goof up like Uncle Sam then sticking him in the same ring as a hardened, serious athlete like Gunther - this squash was a shoddy way to get the Intercontinental Champ on Raw.

Gunther won't be looking back on his first Raw singles bout with a smile, put it that way.

It'd be wise for WWE to keep the big Austrian away from giggle-filled segments like this. Gunther is at his best when he's working lengthy, hard-hitting matches that emphasise his physicality over anything else. He defo shouldn't be saddled with "ha ha".

To be fair, at least the squash lasted less than a minute and did fit the July 4th theme WWE insisted on lazily focusing on. Maybe Gunther will kick off a full-time feud on Friday's episode of SmackDown? The guy badly needs to keep momentum going.
