Remember the "Tag-Team World Cup" that AJ Styles' old pals Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson won at Crown Jewel 2019? Feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? Well, that gimmicky bauble has been updated for 2021 by way of WWE's "Best Tag-Team" award that was doled out on SmackDown.

Sure, the moniker is a token gesture designed to give New Day something to brag about heading into Day 1's match with The Usos. Yes, the outcome was so obvious to everyone watching that Triple Threat main event unfold. The headliner was also more of a house show special than anything else, but it's hard to be mad.

Kofi Kingston and King Woods now have something they can rub in Jimmy and Jey's faces before the pay-per-view. They're officially the "Best Tag-Team" in the land, and they hold a win over both the Raw and SmackDown titleholders to prove it.

This counts as build, and everyone knows these lads will put in a stunning shift at Day 1 anyway.
