5 Ups & 7 Downs For AEW In 2023 (So Far)

1. Hyped Signings Without Substance

Jay White
AEW

Jay White was touted as a major coup for AEW when he officially became #AllElite in early-April. This was particularly pleasing for company hardcores, because WWE had reportedly fancied inking a deal with White too. Tony Khan got his man...then proceeded to do absolutely nothing of note with him.

'Switchblade' is teaming with Juice Robinson as Bullet Club Gold, and was just another face in the 'Blackjack Battle Royal' at Double Or Nothing. Yes, this marquee free agent signing was there to make up in the numbers in a 21-man International Title bout. Wow.

That's indicative of a wider bitch about AEW. They've got far too many wrestlers under contract, and don't know what to do with half of them. Collision might remedy that, but White's plight is a dizzying reminder of how easy it is for even top workers to get lost in the shuffle.

Man, hope White and Juice vs. FTR cures all ills.
