5 Ups & 7 Downs For WWE Raw (8 Sept - Results & Review)

Ups…

5. "Therapy! Therapy!"

WWE Raw AJ Lee
WWE

A quick note separate of the AJ Lee/Becky Lynch segment…

During her promo, AJ Lee spoke about how she retired from WWE 10 years ago and went on her own “mental health journey.” She spoke about how she needed to take care of herself and went to therapy, eliciting cheers from the crowd, and even a “Therapy!” chant. AJ spoke to those struggling by saying she had turned her mental chaos into her superpower, and that anyone else going through it should know that getting help is worth it, and that they’re worth it.

Whether WWE as an organization truly believes in this in 2025, it’s a far cry from the company’s historic treatment of mental health. AJ herself was booked as a “crazy chick” for the majority of her run. Stories of the company not treating mental health seriously have surfaced numerous times.

The WWE of a decade ago never would have allowed a wrestler to go on television and speak so openly about their mental health struggles (without being mocked about it), and for the fans to unironically applaud Lee’s declaration also shows how far society has come. Normalize this stuff. It’s okay to not be okay.
