There are plenty of things to dislike about the 24/7 Championship scrum we see every now and again, as a bunch of jobbers stream onto camera from catering and flail around trying to win a title that most people hold for a day at most at a time.

But it really gets bad when you see people ignore in-universe storylines in the process.

Cedric Alexander was in the ring for a tag match with Elias against Jaxson Ryker & R-Truth when Akira Tozawa ran out with the 24/7 title, followed by a bunch of wrestlers. One of them was Shelton Benjamin, who has been embroiled in a feud with Cedric for a couple of months after their tag team falling out. Shelton dove in the ring right next to Alexander, who just stood there and watched the scene unfold. Benjamin exited the ring and continued to chase Tozawa, and that was that.

It’s not like we’re asking for a lot here, but let’s not forget that Tito Santana and Rick Martel went after each other every time they were in a ring together for years after Strike Force broke up. In this case, Cedric and Shelton were literally feuding just a few weeks ago and now they blow by each other and don’t even flinch.

How hard would it have been for Alexander to stick out his foot and trip Benjamin? Or for Shelton to take a swing at Cedric as he ran by? The simplest gesture would have been appreciated.
