5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (July 5)

6. More Dumb Tall Tales

In this week’s adventures of “What Scottish Tale Will WWE Mine for a Drew McIntyre Story?”, we saw the writers finally get around to one of its more famous legends.

In recent weeks, the former WWE Champion has taken to telling these ridiculous stories in backstage interviews, whether they’re about Robert the Bruce, or William Wallace or some other tall tale. On Monday, McIntyre spun a yarn about how his family heirloom sword was made from the Loch Ness Monster’s tooth.

Yes, you read that right. Sure, the story became more and more ridiculous, to the point where you got the message that Drew was deliberately telling a fake story. But where did we hit the point that this guy, who was anointed “The Guy” in 2020 to knock off Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 and carry the title for the bulk of the next nine months, would now become a goof telling R-Truth-esque stories?

Please, just ditch this part of his persona. It’s not funny, or entertaining, or endearing. It’s just dumb.
