5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (June 28)

1. Lighting A Fire Under Kofi

For all the goofiness and jokes, it’s easy to forget that Kofi Kingston can be a serious person and really come on strong.

Kingston did just that as he verbally sparred with MVP. Kofi talked about watching Xavier Woods getting beat up by Bobby Lashley last week inside Hell in a Cell after the match and how he’s been having nightmares about it, but that he would make Lashley pay. MVP dismissed Kingston and said he wasn’t a threat.

To his credit, Kingston kept the pressure on, suggesting that Lashley was vulnerable because the All-Mighty Champion was getting taken to the limit by Drew McIntyre and Woods, so maybe his aura is slowly ebbing away.

The highlight came when MVP refused to get into the ring because “I’m hurt,” which prompted Kofi to charge the manager, duck a cane shot and hit a Trouble in Paradise, boasting, “Now you’re hurt!”

Is Kofi going to end Lashley’s title reign? Highly unlikely, but we’re enjoying this ride.
