5 Ups & 8 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jan 8)

4. Go Out There & Have Some Fun

Jurassic Express
AEW

A match seemingly custom-built to trigger a certain type of wrestling fan saw Jurassic Express meet the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy in trios action, and while seeing Marko Stunt and 'Freshly Squeezed' sharing a ring probably made this an insta-Down for many, that it was so over with the crowd sees it finish as a positive here.

The audience was all the way into this. They loved everyone involved, broke out a "this is awesome!" chant, and seemed thoroughly entertained. If the objective measurement of a performer's success is how they entertain their consumers, this was a triumph, and anyone readying a "casual fans don't want to see these guys" argument (which isn't without merit) better come armed with a previous show's quarter-hour viewing figures or other non-anecdotal evidence.

The bout itself was a fun little break from some of the dreck on last night's Dynamite, with the Luchasaurus/Cassidy showdown drawing particularly big pops. Jungle Boy scored the pin, too, continuing his recent mini-ascension, and showing that AEW respect the trio's popularity.
