5 Ups & 8 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jan 8)

3. Omega & Page Overcome Tension

Hangman Page Kenny Omega
AEW

While not quite the most compelling tag bout Kenny Omega and Hangman Page have wrestled together, their opener with Private Party worked, fit recent storylines, and got over.

Though not exactly an imposing brute himself, Page worked hossy offense against the smaller Private Party, who lit the Elite duo up with signature cocaine-fuelled tandem work. As can be the case with them, there were times when the work looked a little too cooperative to fit what is still supposed to be a scripted fight. Regardless, they worked hard, were effective foes with Omega and Page, and got the crowd buzzing - as they always do.

The slow-burning Page turn continued with a few moments of miscommunication. Hangman almost murdered Kenny with a Buckshot Lariat when Mark Quen ducked out of the way, and another spot saw Omega accidentally kick the Private Party man into Hangman. They got the job done in the end, though, with 'The Best Bout Machine' nailing the One Winged Angel following a Buckshot/V-Trigger combo, slapping hands with Page after the bell.

A well-paced storyline, this one still has a few weeks left to sizzle before Page finally pulls the trigger.
