5 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 1)

5. ‘This Is Getting Kind Of Old’

When Byron Saxton is making the case for how lame a trope has become, it’s time to retire the damn thing.

This time, it was the Ric Flair and Lacey Evans walkout distraction during a Charlotte Flair match, as the duo came out onto the stage to preen, ticking Charlotte off to the point that she tagged out of the match.

But it was Saxton’s reaction, noting that this has happened repeatedly in recent weeks. Worse, it’s happened the same way each time: Flair’s music hits, he struts out, and then Evans makes an appearance. Lather, rinse, repeat. There’s no variation, no mixing it up. And after a month, it really is getting old.

It gets worse though. WrestleMania is still nine-plus weeks away, so presumably we’re going to have to endure this a few more times, because there’s no way the writers have any better ideas, right? (Prove us wrong, WWE.)
