When it comes to WWE, you can set your watch to certain things in certain situations.

For example, in a battle royal, a heel like the Miz will inevitably hide outside the ring or feign an injury outside, sneak back into the match at the end and either eliminate the supposed winner or nearly toss that person to inject “suspense” into the match.

In Monday’s situation, it actually was the Miz who faked an injury, sitting outside until it was just AJ Styles and Riddle left. He then yanked AJ off the apron to eliminate him and tried to toss Riddle, but he was unsuccessful and ultimately succumbed to an RKO on the apron.

But really, it seems like WWE has a handful of tropes for every type of match, and they constantly pull out the same ones over and over. This is why people say WWE feels so stale and played out.
