Downs…

9. A Lame Finish To Midcard Title Match

Wow, if you could book the worst finish to a Damian Priest/Shinsuke Nakamura match, you’d have to consider a guitar shot to the head to be among the worst.

Priest and Nakamura were having a decent champion versus champion match on the kickoff show – nothing to write home about, but not terrible – but Damian kept getting ticked off by Rick Boogs playing guitar at random points. He finally warned the ax man to knock it off or he’d be sorry.

Sure enough, Boogs shredded another tune while Priest had a submission hold locked in, which distracted him enough for Shinsuke to get out of the hold. Priest then went outside and broke the guitar, then smacked Boogs with it. When Nakamura rolled outside to confront him, Damian whacked him with the remnant of the guitar, drawing the DQ.

Just a terrible finish. If it was supposed to mark a heel turn for Priest, it was pretty stupid, especially after he was getting more established as a babyface from facing heel T-Bar on Raw recently.
