5 Ups And 1 Down From WWE NXT (Nov 11)
1. Brand Opening, Brand Closing
Genuine pangs of sadness in my heart at the start of this segment, as Lorcan and Burch's golden waists served only to make Pete Dunne's look suspiciously bare. Here's a really vicious heel who looks like he reeeeeally needs a championsip... and Leon Ruff's just won the North American title... Oh no.
There's no need for NXT to continually remind us how got Pat McAfee is on the mic. In fact, it's probably a bad idea for the brand in the long run, given that he's the only person on the entire show who hasn't come through the Performance Centre in some capacity; but I'm really, really glad they do it. The poppers-per-minute ratio is incredible.
The match itself was best described as 'of the required standard'. It's not going to live long in the memory, but if this group are going to go around calling themselves the greatest thing going, then the matches need to deliver. This one might have been more about the promo and the beatdown, but it justifies the logic that Lorcan and Burch are here because they were overlooked for too long. They've had better matches in the past, they'll hopefully have better ones in the future, but this felt like a main-event.
We're still waiting for the WarGames announcement though...
