The first match on Smackdown was an eight-man tag pitting The Usos and The Ascension against American Alpha and the Smackdown Tag Team Champions, Rhyno and Heath Slater. Even though the last time a bunch of teams were thrown together for a match on the blue brand it wasn't much to write home about, this was a lot better.

The heels got the heat on Chad Gable, with The Usos taking his leg out and everyone beating him down. Gable played the babyface in peril perfectly, selling for all of the heels and having trouble getting the tag. Just when it seemed he was about to get to Jordan, The Ascension pulled him off the apron. Rhyno attacked them, and Gable made the tag to Slater.

Slater came in and ran wild on the heels, knocking down both members of The Ascension. The Usos were able to take him out with a shot to the leg, though, and the Tequila Sunrise forced Slater to tap out. Not only was this an exciting contest with a hot ending, but it managed to further The Usos' issues with both the champs and American Alpha. Good stuff.
