Earlier on in the night, a Sherlock Holmes-cosplaying Fandango explained his grand NXT Tag title plan to William Regal - a plan which was later hilariously translated by Danny Burch.

Simply put, a tag team match involving Roderick Strong teaming with Burch to take on the team of Fabian Aichner and Raul Mendoza would decide who qualified for a Number One Contendership match. The winners would face each other further down the line and the team that came out on top there would take on NXT Tag Team Champions Breezango.

You with me?

Once that convoluted set-up was out of the way, however, both unexpected teams played their part in a treat of a unique tag team showdown. During the match, each individual managed to grab the spotlight in their own distinct way as the bout lent itself to solo offence due to the lack of any real cohesion within either team.

In the end, Burch and Strong did enough to book their teams into the next round of this odd tournament. Sure, it took a second to get your head around, but this fresh concept was actually a ton of fun to witness and sets up a sure to be hard-hitting Number One Contender's encounter between the Undisputed Era and Lorcan & Birch in the future.

Now let's all go and have a lie down.
