5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 21)

3. John Cena Gets Squashy

The nicest thing that can possibly be said about John Cena vs. Fandango is that it wasn't entirely pointless. The contest gave Cena a victory and kept him relatively strong on a night that saw The Miz chip away at his ego with the Total Bellas segments, and also brought Fandango & Tyler Breeze's underrated Fashion Police gimmick back to television.

That's the extent of it, however. It felt like a needless etread of last week's dire Cena/Nikki Bella vs. Carmella/James Ellsworth tag match, only shorter. The finish (a stereo Attitude Adjustment/Rack Attack 2.0 leading to dual submissions) was a direct copycat of last week, and really, was there any need for Breeze to be dressed-up as "Breezy Bella?"

It was a lazy segment, and one that didn't need to be there. SmackDown would have been far better served if this match were cut and the time allotted to the women's division instead, and Cena's fiery Talking Smack promo would have been more than enough to recover from the Total Bellas parodies. Instead, SD resorted to reptition, and not for the first time in recent weeks.
