5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 25)
2. Dana's Predictable Plan
Asuka and Demma Brooke continue their feud, with the troublesome twosome finally getting some measure of victory over the so-far dominant Japanese star. Asuka v Dana never took place, the match being called off after a vicious attack by Emma (kitted out in her finest burglar gear for some reason) left the Psychotic Diva laying in the centre of the ring. Normally, this would be fine; a solid, if unspectacular, continuation of the storyline. The only problem was: this is exactly what Demma said would happen last week. Dana cut a promo calling out Asuka, who accepted, and then Demma sniggered about how 'she fell for it'. So it was obvious, by design, that an Emma attack was coming and basic storytelling says that if you obviously lay out a 'surprise plan', the plan surely has to go wrong, right? You know, because of storytelling? It wasn't a huge problem, just an odd choice. By foreshadowing the scheme, then have the scheme happen without any twist, some potential for drama was lost. Why foreshadow the scheme in the first place? Then again, this angle has become so predictable (Asuka will destroy Emma at TakeOver, right?) that it doesn't really matter.
