5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 14)

In a sense, it's fairly simple. Put workers like Alberto Del Rio and AJ Styles in a match, give them ample time to work with, sit back and watch magic unfold. It's inconceivable to imagine a combination such as this having a bad match, they're just too talented.

There will forever be confusion over WWE's booking of Styles at WrestleMania. Why he was written to lose against Chris Jericho, only to become the top contender for Roman Reigns and the WWE Title, is baffling. Surely a win would have properly given Styles momentum, making it more realistic and logical that he's a threat to Reigns?

That's all in the past, WWE can only work with what they have now. For what it's worth, bouts like this one from SmackDown are the perfect way to showcase AJ. Del Rio himself is in limbo at the moment, with talk of the League Of Nations splitting, but he was in fine form.

Few could have had complaints had this been the main event, but the writing team had another ace up their sleeves.
