5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 14)

2. Seeing Sami Zayn Main Event

There's something infectious about Sami Zayn's entrance, the guy simply looks delighted to be there. It only gets people ready to see him work a match, and there was a lot of anticipation over his first showdown with Chris Jericho.

Years ago, telling anyone that the man once known as El Generico in ROH would headline a WWE show opposite Jericho would draw some funny looks. That's what makes it so awesome, it's actually happening in 2016. WWE have their detractors, but when they put matches like this on, they should be commended.

Grabbing his chance, Zayn never looked out of place against the WWE veteran Jericho. Admittedly, emphasis on bickering between Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose at the announce desk did remove some focus from the in-ring action, but at least everyone concerned was trying to tell a story.

Zayn's win may have been hollow (disqualification), but the actual content of the bout proved he's a deserving headliner on shows like SmackDown.
