5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Dec 22)

4. Good Story Continuation With The Family And The League Of Nations

Speaking of continuity in stories, Smackdown is often a show lacking in that particular department. Thankfully, this wasn't the case on the live episode, which felt like a natural successor to Raw. On Monday, the League Of Nations battered The Usos backstage, effectively removing them from the equation for the Steel Cage Match between Sheamus and Dean Ambrose. Therefore, a match pitting the brothers against Alberto Del Rio and Rusev made perfect logical sense. The fact both 'King' Barrett and Sheamus also accompanied their stablemates to ringside helped lend some credibility to the idea that the League Of Nations are a solid unit. They also played into the finish, helping their buddies pick up the win over The Usos. Admittedly, the match didn't have a great level of intensity to it. Given what happened on Raw, The Usos should have come firing out of the gate, looking to avenge themselves. Instead, the bout meandered along in a surprisingly slow fashion. On a more cheerful note, Roman Reigns interjected himself after the match, saving The Usos from a beat down. The story was progressed in a rational way, despite the match perhaps not being as good as it could have been. It was still enjoyable, just not as heated as it promised.
