5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Dec 22)

1. Intercontinental Title Looked Meaningful

If there's one thing Smackdown provides, it's the chance for actual wrestling matches to get over with fans. Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler was never going to be anything less than entertaining, but the bout was pay-per-view quality. If a match like this had been featured on the upcoming Royal Rumble show, few fans would be complaining afterwards. There's still a chance that might happen, but all involved will have a hard task topping what they achieved on Smackdown. Much like the Tag-Team Title showdown, Ambrose, Owens and Ziggler were handed around 13 minutes to work with in total. Not a moment of that was wasted, and Ambrose came across as a gutsy, fighting champion who would take on the world once the match was over. If The Usos vs. Alberto Del Rio and Rusev was guilty of lacking some intensity earlier in the program, this Triple Threat more than made up for it. Ziggler and Owens looked like they desperately wanted to win back a championship they both have experience of holding, whereas Ambrose was portrayed as a champion with his back against the wall. It'll be interesting to see where WWE take this in the next few weeks. What other 'ups' and 'downs' did you take from the special live edition of Smackdown? What did you make of the show overall?
