5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Feb 4)

1. Kevin Owens And Kalisto Work Wonders

If there's one thing Smackdown proved, it's that Kevin Owens is highly effective against a wide range of opponents. It looks like the heel is headed for a run of matches against Dolph Ziggler, something which exists as a distraction whilst Dean Ambrose is wrapped up in the WWE World Heavyweight Title contender situation. On Smackdown, Owens met the current WWE United States Champion. Kalisto is the kind of performer that can bump around at will for his peers, something Owens was only too happy to take advantage of. As the much bigger man in the match, he worked a powerful style that actually proved very effective. Kalisto fills the Rey Mysterio role, a popular high-flyer who relies on building sympathy from fans. Hopefully, WWE will put these guys together again in the future, because they really were terrific. There was good chemistry there, and Owens was even fair with the amount of punishment he soaked up from Kalisto. The heel didn't just dish it out, he was willing to take it too. There were some nice matches on this week's Smackdown, but the show would be worth watching for this one alone.
