5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (March 31)
2. Random WrestleMania XXX Footage
Daniel Bryan is one of the most beloved WWE performers of the past decade, there's no doubt about that. His victory at WrestleMania XXX was colossal, an achievement treasured by those who cheered so hard for his push in the first place. The WWE World Title win was a true 'Mania moment, but it also felt weird to revisit on this week's SmackDown. Amidst video packages for upcoming bouts, discussing Bryan's recent retirement came across as random. Clips of his match against Randy Orton and Batista from the 2014 event were spliced in, and felt at odds with hype for Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker or Roman Reigns vs. Triple H. This was a strange decision. It wasn't as though other WrestleMania moments were shown either, Daniel Bryan's big night was a one-off on SmackDown. Again, this didn't serve much purpose. Bryan has an unsavoury end to his WWE run, but 'Mania season should be a time for celebration. This reminder of his misfortune dampened SmackDown.
