5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Sept 24)

1. Dean Ambrose Beating Seth Rollins Thanks To Kane Was Predictable

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins was a fine choice to main event this week's Smackdown. Any time the former members of The Shield collide, there's bound to be some great action. Ambrose vs. Rollins was entirely watchable, but even the most casual of fans could see the finish coming a mile away. 'Corporate' Kane was the one who set up the bout, and 'Demon' Kane was responsible for distracting Rollins right before the finish. Continually, WWE stars are fooled by a false entrance, inevitably leading to them being rolled up by their opponent. It's a tired plot device, or at least that's exactly how it came across on Smackdown. A lot of fans have remarked over the years that Smackdown doesn't feature enough storyline development. There was admittedly some on display here, but it didn't have much impact. Ambrose didn't gain much by earning a cheap roll-up win over Rollins, and Seth himself looked weak by falling into an obvious trap. During matches at least, Rollins needs to continue to look strong.
