3. Edge Has Grit

In a different time and place, the feud between Edge and Randy Orton would be burning down the show week in and week out.

But even in today’s climate, Edge and Orton have mostly delivered in these closing weeks. Edge’s go-home promo Monday reached all the way back to WrestleMania 6, when Edge was a kid in Toronto watching future tag team partner Hulk Hogan take on Ultimate Warrior. He noted that his passion drove him to be great, while Orton was just naturally gifted and was OK with being OK.

Edge talked about his grit helping him forge his own path, which led him to the WWE Hall of Fame, and then brought him all the way back from retirement. And then he talked about being pulled back into action by Randy’s attacks.

Here’s hoping these two can make a blood feud without audience reaction work, because they really deserve the opportunity to succeed.
