5 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Nov 19)

1. Main Event Non-Finish Was Smart

In fairness to WWE, the Smackdown crowd were treated to a worthy main event on this week's show. Alberto Del Rio teamed with Kevin Owens to face Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. Maybe it was down to the imagination playing tricks, but it did seem that the quartet were being careful with one another until the end sequence. WWE definitely do not want any more injuries spoiling Survivor Series plans. That didn't ruin the match whatsoever, and it was actually a perfectly acceptable affair. Best of all, the bout felt like a main event, rather than simply a routine tag-team match. Ending in a double count out, this was the best-case scenario for all concerned. It would have made little sense for anyone to go over anyone else. If the babyfaces had won, it would have made the heels look weak. If the villains had come out on top, it'd only telegraph what is going to happen on Pay-Per-View. Perhaps WWE did telegraph to a point on Smackdown. The show ended with Reigns and Ambrose both staring at the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt, sharing a laugh that they may be the ones to square off for the prize. That's certainly the bout most fans want to see in the main event at Survivor Series.
