5 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night’s WWE NXT (April 22)
2. Anything Less Than Fighting Each Other Is A Waste For Balor And Itami
Finn Balor and Hideo Itami are bumping their heads against the NXT ceiling. It can't be too much longer that we see both men stick around, unless one of them is thrust into the title picture again. This isn't likely to happen for at least a month, as Zayn and Owens have isolated themselves around the title, their heated rivalry set to take centre stage for a good while. Simply put, other than Zayn and Owens, who is there left for them to fight? Hideo knocked off CJ Parker, but that does nothing for him, especially after coming back from Wrestlemania. Balor seems to be entering into what will likely be a protracted feud with Tyler Breeze, but it's hard to get excited about that. Prince Pretty is an above-average worker but after Finn colliding so memorably with Adrian Neville and Hideo Itami, Breeze feels like a step down for the Irishman. Tyler Breeze feels like an opponent more suited to a feud with the grungy hacker, Soloman Crowe, while Itami and Balor keep each other busy. Each man has pinned the other once. It's time to find out: who is the better man. Turn one heel against the other and you could create a rivalry that will run and run, at least until the title scene opens up a bit more. More predictable matches with lower card talent will only frustrate the fans, knowing that the two men are wasting their potential.
