5 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night’s WWE NXT (April 22)

3. Rhyno Running The Risk Of Outstaying His Welcome

Fans would have been forgiving in thinking that Rhyno's return to NXT was simply to put over Sami Zayn on the road to his rematch with Kevin Owens. It makes a long of sense. Rhyno returns, gores his way through the competition, doesn't stick around so long that fans remember that he perhaps wasn't much more than a finishing move, and leave having put over a new up-and-coming talent. But no, he's still around. Last night he tore through an unnamed jobber in three moves. Clothesline, belly to belly throw, gore. Rhyno has the crowd firmly behind him at the moment. The feeling that he was gone too soon from WWE, whilst also having one of the sweetest finishing moves around, has given him a wave of nostalgia good feeling to ride. But that may not last much longer if he doesn't deliver matches. Having already given up a solid 15 minute bout with Sami Zayn, Hideo Itami and Finn Balor would both be much better opponents for the Manbeast than a poor nameless jobber, but perhaps that's the formula. Rhine tears through a few jobbers, takes on big name NXT star and loses. Rinse, repeat. Realistically, how many times can fans be expected to watch the same process over and over again? Speaking of those two men...
