5 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (June 24)
3. Building The Tag Division
It's official, the NXT tag division has a new team: the Hype Bros. It's a terrible name, and the gimmicks of Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley are both quite annoying, but this is probably the best possible thing that either men could be doing right now. Their relentlessly good-natured knucklehead personas mesh well, creating a pairing that feels organic, if a little too silly to succeed beyond the confines of playful NXT. The two men also represent another tag team to add to a growing division. After the loss of both The Ascension and The Lucha Dragons, the tag scene in NXT was starting to feel more than a little bare, a situation exemplified by the champs, Blake and Murphy, who have yet to make a solid connection with the crowd. But now, the Hype Bros join Enzo and Big Cass, Blake & Murphy, Angelo Dawkins & Sawyer Fulton, and the Vaudevillains. Also seen on last night's episode, Jason Jordan continues his quest for a tag team partner that will surely see him end up with Chad Gable, which would round the division off at six regular teams, which isn't bad for a division that, last month, only seemed to consist of Enzo & Cass and Blake & Murphy.
