5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Crown Jewel 2022

5. How Do You Screw Up That Camera Shot?

It might seem like a minor thing to harp on a single missed camera shot, but when you’re talking about a billion-dollar company and at a high drama point of a match, you’ve got to call it out – and call for Kevin Dunn’s head because he just deserves it.

During the Bobby Lashley/Brock Lesnar match, Lashley had Brock in the Hurt Lock, driving him down to one knee. Lesnar looked to be fading, so the referee lifted Brock’s arm twice and it dropped. Then on the third one, the camera inexplicably cut to a closeup of Lesnar’s face, so we never saw the arm raise back up, which is about as traditional of a wrestling trope as you’ll ever get.

Somehow, some way, some idiot missed that very basic shot in favor of seeing Brock’s face fill the entire screen. Again, it’s not some major thing, but it’s the AV and wrestling camerawork equivalent of screwing up a lockup. If you can’t do that right, you might want to rethink your career path.
