In this week’s edition of “Stuff that doesn’t make sense,” we take a look at the steel cage match between bitter enemies Drew McIntyre and Karrion Kross.

A steel cage match that was designed to keep Scarlett from interfering like she did previous (spoiler: she did again) and keep the two gladiators trapped inside to battle to the end. Only, the match ended with both men desperately trying to escape the cage, rather than trying to demolish each other.

In reality, Drew won a footrace by climbing out of the cage faster than Kross could crawl out the door. How does that translate to two bitter rivals trying to rip each other apart? Worse, Kross had a handful of opportunities to escape if he really wanted to, including toward the end where he tried to climb out rather than walking out the door or opting to put Drew away.

McIntyre as the babyface trying to escape the cage in a blood feud is also poor booking in this situation, and going back to the Scarlett using mace trope was a bit weak, especially since Drew brushed the debilitating spray off just moments later. This doesn’t even get into the fact that the match itself was dull, slow and plodding – a fact that even the announcers were forced to acknowledge.

Bad, bad, bad.
