5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Extreme Rules 2020

1. A Horror Show Of Poor Finishes

Extreme Rules will go down as the ultimate placeholder show, a PPV where some wrestlers gave some good efforts, but ultimately, the show was dragged down by unsatisfying finishes and poor booking. Nothing really of consequence happened beyond one minor title change.

Several matches – Braun Strowman versus Bray Wyatt, Sasha Banks versus Asuka, and Seth Rollins versus Rey Mysterio – had bad endings. The two in-arena matches were chugging along well before the wheels fell out for the conclusions, dragging things down. Another announced title match didn’t take place. The only title change took place in a tables match, which is possibly one of the worst stipulation matches, because it’s literally building to one spot – putting an opponent through a table.

The “eye for an eye” match didn’t deliver on its stipulation, and the Swamp Fight was a poor imitation of previous cinematic matches. That’s not a good look when two of the most-hyped matches are subpar.

If you were watching this PPV thinking there would be some conclusions reached, you would be wrong. Aside from Dolph Ziggler being Claymore kicked back to the midcard, there wasn’t a lot definitively resolved. And there wasn’t a lot that is going to matter during the next couple months. This will be forgotten in a few weeks.

And now to the positives...
