Ever since the Boneyard Match, WWE continues to chase the dragon with its cinematic matches. And while the Swamp Fight was decent from a visual standpoint, it was utterly pointless and overall boring.

Yes, boring.

Bray Wyatt delivering one of his “classic” rambling sermons while he has Braun Strowman tied up was a definite low point, and the jumping from situation to situation was poorly done. Wyatt had random goons attack Braun at random points, but they were nowhere to be seen when Bray actually needed help. And just to drive the point home that this “match” didn’t matter, The Fiend showed up at the end to close the PPV, as we were left to wonder if the WWE Universal Champion had been drowned.

Sorry, cool lighting and some decent camera tricks doesn’t make for an interesting feud or match. The Boneyard Match had the benefit of being first, and now every cinematic effort is just trying to replicate that success, but it’s obvious they’re trying to copy that one good idea with a couple small changes.

And it didn’t work Sunday night.
