WWE's Chelsea Green reveals orbital bone injury.
In some unfortunate news, WWE's Chelsea Green is dealing with an injury.
After an initial report from the Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez that Chelsea was dealing with an unspecified injury, Green herself took to Instagram to reveal that she suffered a broken orbital bone during her match on the most recent SmackDown. There, the Canadian teamed with Tiffany Stratton in a loss to Fatal Inluence's Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.
As Chelsea explained in an Insta video, the injury "feels awful, but looks pretty amazing," and added that she had "no idea what that means for me" moving forward.
Of course, Chelsea Green is Interim WWE Women's Champion, having won that title in a five-woman ladder match at SummerSlam last weekend. The biggest win of Chelsea's career so far, it would obviously be a huge blow for her and WWE should this injury rule the 35-year-old out of action for any notable period of time.
In terms of WWE, and particularly the SmackDown women's roster, this comes on the heels of WWE Women's Champion Rhea Ripley being on the sidelines due to a meniscus tear, with plenty of uncertainty over how long until the Eradicator is able to return to the ring. It was due to Rhea's injury that the Interim WWE Women's Championship was introduced in the first place, and there are now major questions over the status of the Interim WWE Women's Champion.
As it happens, Rhea Ripley dealt with her own orbital bone injury back in October 2024, though she was cleared to return - complete with a face protector - in time for that year's Survivor Series one month later.
