5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Payback 2020

1. Wacky Tag Champs Reign

It was just a few weeks ago that Nia Jax was suspended for repeatedly assaulting a WWE official. Then in one night, she was reinstated for apologizing, engaged in childish banter with her rival, formed a tag team with said rival, and “earned” a tag title shot on PPV.

Sunday, Jax and Shayna Baszler had another goofy “we don’t like each other” argument backstage before going out and winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, peeling them from a team that has to be considered the most dominant force in the women’s division in the past four months, the Golden Role Models.

Bayley & Sasha Banks looked overmatched and fell clean to the wacky duo, with Baszler actually locking both women in submission holds to prevent Banks from interfering. You would have thought that beating the Golden Role Models would have been a great opportunity to elevate a team – the IIconics, Riott Squad, etc. – while exposing the cracks between the two champs, but instead it’s the first-time partners who hate each other.

Oh, and so is Nia now just an uber-obnoxious tweener? Given her celebration afterward, it’s tough to tell if WWE wants us to boo, cheer, or just go “meh.”
