Sheamus versus Big E isn’t going to win match or feud of the year, but their Payback match Sunday night was a solid one.

Both men took turns wailing on the other, with the storyline of “who is the ‘locker room leader’ ” playing out during the early stages. The better angle – E trying to step out on his own against a former multi-time world champion – was buried beneath the surface, but the announcers brought it out a little bit.

Sheamus targeted Big E’s knee throughout the match, but he came back with his power moves, finally countering a Brogue Kick with a powerbomb and a Big Ending for the win.

It was an effective match, and hopefully E can build on that, and maybe smack Miz down along the way after his Talking Smack commentary.
