5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (June 8)

3. The Champ Makes Alliances

Even though we’re in this weird period where there is no paying audience to cheer or react to what they see, there are certain aspects of a wrestling program you expect to see.

And seeing a world champion associating with other wrestlers and forming friendships and alliances is one of those things that can be helpful. Seeing Drew McIntyre chat with the Viking Raiders and invite them to hang out after Raw was a nice little touch, for two reasons: It’s lonely on top, and having some potential backup never hurts.

McIntyre camped out at ringside during the Raiders’ tag match against Bobby Lashley & MVP. It paid dividends later when Lashley locked the full nelson on Ivar post-match, and a Claymore broke it up.

It’s just a personal thing. Seeing the champ interact with other wrestlers always felt like it was designed to elevate them, rather than putting him in an ivory tower to never chat with other talent.
