5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE TLC 2016

1. Ellsworth Interference

We’re going to have to unpack this a little on Tuesday, but if James Ellsworth’s interference was part of some master plan, then it was the worst plan you could devise.

AJ Styles has been abusing Ellsworth on SmackDown, while the chinless wonder owns three (very suspect) wins over the WWE World Champion. Dean Ambrose has stood up for Ellsworth and defended him, also helping him win all three of his matches against AJ.

Fast-forward to Sunday, where Styles had just put Ambrose down with a phenomenal 450 springboard splash through a table on the floor. AJ was back inside the ring setting up a ladder when Ellsworth came down to interrupt, distracting Styles and setting a series of actions into motion that led to Ellsworth tipping a ladder over and sending Ambrose through a couple tables.

If Ellsworth and AJ had colluded to do this, it made no sense since Styles was well on his way to win on his own. If Ellsworth did this solo, then it was a poor idea because it could have completely backfired.

Look, this is WWE, where the “shocking moment” is more important than internal or external logic. Having Ellsworth shockingly turn on Ambrose is what will get the buzz (or what amounts to buzz), so that’s what WWE went for.
