5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 16th)

4. A €˜Masterful€™ Plan

Some of us who watch Raw enjoy €œturning our brains off€ for a little while during the program, just drinking in the show rather than trying to figure out every little nuance. But even for fans who just sit back and let the episode happen, Seth Rollins€™ master plan was pretty transparent from the get-go. And it was completely pointless. Rollins and the Authority hatched a scheme where pair by pair, Authority members would get pissed off at Seth for running his mouth and abandon him, leaving WWE€™s future alone to face Randy Orton. The idea was to lure Orton into a false sense of security leading into the Raw main event. There was just one problem: Orton had already agreed at the beginning of the show to meet Rollins in the ring knowing full well that he was walking into a trap and that he was going to be vastly outnumbered. He even said so. (There also was the fact that the backstage vignettes completely contradicted the opening promo.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji4h77ZrMc8 Why was this necessary? Did someone realize Raw was three segments short? Otherwise, trying to trick Orton into feeling comfortable about walking into a trap that he knew about is just superfluous.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
