5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 27)

4. Heel Or Face?

Raw Roman Reigns

Listen closely to Roman Reigns’ promo on Raw Monday night. The dude was oozing confidence, almost to the point of being arrogant.

Reigns, as usual, received a mixture of boos and cheers, with the boos from the Philly faithful seemingly muted at times and the camera focusing on three women in the front row screaming and jiggling for him. (*Ahem*) Roman talked about winning the 2015 Royal Rumble in Philly (boo) and headlining two straight WrestleManias (boo) and then said he was going to put the Undertaker down (boo again).

But the really noticeable part of Reigns’ promo came next, when he name-dropped Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, John Cena and Taker and said, “This is my time!... This sold-out arena is my house now.” It was a very unusual thing for a babyface to say, almost a heel promo about how he’s going to knock the stars of yesterday off their pedestal – all while being booed by a significant portion of the audience.

If this was the (subtle) start of a heel turn for Roman, then this could be a positive, but WWE and Vince McMahon has shown no interest in even hinting at that, so instead, it simply gets marked as a down for being an un-face-like promo from the company’s presumed #1 babyface.
