5 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Backlash 2020
1. Cinematic BS
After weeks of skits and segments involving the Viking Raiders and Street Profits trying to one-up each other in random competitions, it looked like we were finally going to an actual wrestling match for the Raw Tag Team Championship Sunday night.
Instead, we got the worst kind of bait-and-switch, with the two teams engaging in a horribly unfunny, disjointed, nonsensical backstage brawl.
The Raiders and Profits, who had been engaged in a friendly rivalry that showed no real signs of animosity for more than a month, suddenly were at each other’s throats Sunday night as they brawled in the parking lot, squared off with weapons, used a bowling ball, dreamed of turkey legs, battled Akira Tozawa’s ninjas (no, that really happened), fled to the top of the production truck, tumbled into a Dumpster, and then were attacked by tentacles.
Oh, and the planned tag title match never happened.
What an absolute waste of time, and way to flush any good will built up that the friendly competition segments might have generated. Just awful all the way around.
