While the match itself wasn’t anything special, let’s give some credit to Michael Cole for trying to give the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship triple threat match some deeper context and meaning.

Cole noted that Sasha Banks & Bayley were the inaugural champs who lost their titles to the IIconics, who in turn lost their titles to Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross. That duo’s second tag title reign was ended at the hands of Banks & Bayley a couple weeks ago.

That’s quite the interwoven history between three teams that really didn’t intersect all that much. There wasn’t some huge rivalry between the teams, but yet they all intertwine in a strange way.

Now, it didn’t really make the match any better or make you care, but in a company where recent history is forgotten on an almost weekly basis, it was nice to see that level of detail paid to the title’s history.
