5 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE TLC 2020

6. Cash-In Wasted… Again

The Money in the Bank briefcase has long since jumped the shark as a plot device in WWE storytelling, but it still can have a useful purpose.

Sunday’s cash-in by The Miz was not one of those good moments for the MITB briefcase.

Miz attacked Drew McIntyre during the TLC match for the WWE Championship, then cashed in to make the one-on-one match with AJ Styles a triple threat. He then did the slowest slow climb ever, giving Omos enough time to lumber into the ring, grab him and toss him through a table on the floor. Afterward, Miz joined in a three-way fight on top of the ladders, ultimately eating a Claymore before McIntyre climbed and retrieved his title.

So after taking the briefcase away from Otis, Miz acted like a goofy midcard comedy guy, not a future world champion, then frittered away his “all-but-guaranteed world title reign.” That means that three of the last four men’s MITB cash-ins have ended with the briefcase-holder failing to win the title.

Yeah, sounds like something to get us all fired up about MITB 2021.
